Supporting Workforce Development & Labour Force Growth

A strong and dynamic workforce is essential to a healthy economy. New Brunswick’s labour force is under significant downward pressure due to an aging population and a high number of retirements. Businesses in the province—whether local or external investors—will not succeed or grow if they cannot access the human resources they need. From an economic development standpoint, the labour shortage is the most pressing issue facing New Brunswick today. Addressing this challenge requires a multi-stakeholder approach involving regional service providers, employers, and communities. The Restigouche RSC can make a valuable contribution by supporting the coordination of regional efforts and participating in or promoting workforce development initiatives.

Labour Market Partnership Forum (LMP)

The Restigouche RSC works in collaboration with WorkingNB and key partners and has established a Labour Market Partnerships (LMP) Forum to better coordinate workforce growth in the region. The LMP Forum aims to address the challenges present in the Restigouche labour market by responding to identified workforce and human resource needs. This includes focusing on the supply side (talent pools), the demand side (employer needs and workplace context), and the broader labour market context (catalysts). The LMP Forum will enable the RSC to coordinate its efforts with community partners to avoid duplication and prioritize value-added activities that address service gaps or emerging needs. The LMP Forum will be a key driver of workforce growth in the region.
